Meaningful Use

Perhaps no other initiative in the history of healthcare has the potential to have such a dramatic impact on both provider organizations and the quality of patient care as Meaningful Use.

However, as many organizations have discovered, successfully navigating the complex and evolving Meaningful Use landscape can be a daunting task.

The good news: Kentucky REC is a proven leader in Meaningful Use support. Kentucky REC has a proven track record of helping providers make progress toward compliance in the most efficient and effective way, which translates into lower costs of implementation,  assurance of maximum reimbursements, and protection against penalties and costly audits.

Our Meaningful Use services include:

Meaningful Use Incentive Support: Kentucky REC will determine the incentive program for which the practice may qualify. The Kentucky REC will provide practices with the rules and guidelines around eligibility for the CMS incentive types (Meaningful Use of EHR technology, Physician Quality Reporting Initiative, and electronic prescribing) and make recommendations to the practice regarding which incentives to target.

Meaningful Use Gap Analysis: Kentucky REC will assist the practice manager in performing an independent Meaningful Use gap analysis and provide an independent assessment of the practice’s readiness to meet Meaningful Use compliance standards. Kentucky REC will work with the practice to ensure that the gaps identified in the Meaningful Gap Analysis are resolved in a timely fashion.

Meaningful Use Attestation: Kentucky REC will assist clients with the Meaningful Use attestation process including obtaining incentive payments and/or avoiding penalties (if applicable). The service includes: pre-attestation checklist; Meaningful Use reporting and attestation assistance; demonstration of Meaningful Use to CMS/DMS; audit documentation recommendations.

About Meaningful Use
EHRs can provide many benefits for providers and their patients, but the benefits depend on how they are used.

Meaningful Use is the set of standards defined by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Incentive Programs that governs the use of EHRs and allows eligible providers and hospitals to earn incentive payments by meeting specific criteria.

The goal of Meaningful Use is to promote the spread of EHRs to improve health care in the United States.
